Travel RVing With Pets

If you own a pet (or if you are alone), taking an extended RV trip without them would be unthinkable. Being able to take our pets with us was the number 2 reason we decided to get the RV. (I'm not sure which is the No. 1 reason was ).

traveling with pets can make your RVing experience very satisfying. But if you do not plan well for it, can make you crazy ! So do not throw your pets in an RV in the last minute, without considering that people are, too, and deserve special care and attention to their needs.

Most dogs are ready to RV travel and enjoy the journey as much as other family members. As long as you stop every few hours and take them out for some exercise and take care of their personal business, they're good to go. But there are exceptions - some have problems to adapt any new environment and get stressed out. Usually quiet dogs can become permanent Barkers and show the behavior you have never seen before. If you do not know how your dog reacts to travel, you should consider taking it on some short trips before embarking on a journey. Another consideration is keeping your best friends clean. No matter how hard you try, you can not stick to wet the dog from smelling like wet dog. Put the wet dog in the confined space, as a camper or caravan - you're going to have some UN happy campers. Keep plenty of old towels on a rainy day and swim meets. Wipe them before you let them inside.

Cats can make great companions, but they are definitely different from dogs. Most of them will take you on a leash, so you can open them to collect a whole other set of problems.

Dogs and cats are by far the most common RV compatible animal companions, but certainly not the only one. I saw a pot-bellied pigs (which are really wonderful pets), miniature donkeys, birds of every feather (well, nearly every feather), lizards, geckos, goats, chickens, rabbits - and snakes.
